To ensure energy security based on sustainable development values and minimize the impact of climate change, it is necessary to promote renewable energy and energy efficiency in states systematically. Kerala targets to become a 100% RE state by 2040 and net zero by 2050. Although it achieved 720 MW of solar and 70 MW of wind installed capacity (as of April 2023), the right strategies and research-backed interventions are required to accomplish the 100 % RE goal. In this context, the State Power Department, ANERT, and the World Resources Institute India (WRI - India) jointly plan research activities on Sustainable Energy Transition in Kerala. As a first step, a high-level conference shall be organized on 027/06/2023 at Hilton Garden Inn, Thiruvananthapuram, from 10 AM to 4 PM. The conference aims to bring together key stakeholders from different government departments, industry and thought leaders to share their insights on Kerala’s transition to a clean energy economy. The discussion focuses on the following two core themes:
1.Exploring Sectorial Synergies in Kerala’s Power Sector
2.Role of Technologies in Kerala’s energy transition.
